ArcGIS Server 10.1 more IT friendly

IT professionals will find significant benefits in the 10.1 release of ArcGIS Server.
Easier to manage: The 10.1 release enables full control over the GIS Server, without exposing the complexities of how a GIS Server works.  All administration and configuration of ArcGIS Server 10.1 occurs via web services. This means that you can manage ArcGIS Server from anywhere and at anytime. You can publish services, review the logs, and even add additional computing power to your server via a simple web interface. We have also enabled a REST-based Administration API so you can automate management tasks or embed them within third party administration tools.
Straight-forward access to databases: ArcGIS Server 10.1 incorporates enhanced capabilities to work with standard databases. You can easily access any database (that may or may not include ArcSDE technology) and disseminate, analyze, and even edit spatial data in it. This is possible through the Spatial Data Server (SDS): a very lightweight .NET or Java technology component of ArcGIS Server. SDS helps you to quickly web enable your databases via a REST interface.  Combined with all the ArcGIS clients available (e.g., Desktop, Web clients, and mobile devices), this provides a compelling solution for easily unlocking your business data into maps and embedded spatial applications of many types.
Flexible: ArcGIS Server 10.1 provides all its capabilities via web services. This means that any business unit within an organization can easily incorporate GIS maps and analytical functions into existing workflows, without having to worry about how GIS works internally. You can embed GIS maps and capabilities from your own ArcGIS Server into existing applications as shown here, plus you can use ArcGIS for SharePoint - Web Part, or any of the ready to deploy applications or developer APIs. With ArcGIS Server you can expose GIS data, maps and analytical capabilities across your organization using accepted IT standards and practices.
Strong Linux support: At version 10.1, the architecture has been redeveloped with strong support for Linux implementations. Linux implementations will be as well supported as those for Windows environment.
